Revit began life in 2000 under Revit Technology Corporation, two years before Autodesk acquired the company for US $ 133m and turned it into a leading player in modern BIM.

Its core innovation, the parametric change engine allows every wall, door and duct in a model to stay interrelated. This means that if a user changes one element of a model, everything connected to it updates automatically. It supports multiple disciplines in one platform: architectural design, structural engineering, and MEP( mechanical, electrical, plumbing) systems, so different teams can work on the same coordinated model.

A quarter of a century on, Revit still commands roughly a third of the global BIM software market, the widest talent pool of any authoring tool, and the deepest ecosystem of plugins, families and integrations.
