ACOP The Approved Code of Practice ( ACoP ) is to be replaced by tailored guidance . The current ACOP is one of the longest ACOPs supporting health and safety regulations because of the diverse and wide ranging industry it is intended to cover . One argument that was made for retaining the ACOP is the special legal status ACOPs enjoy . They give powers to those in charge of health and safety to persuade senior managers and boards that a particular course of action is needed . However HSE ’ s position is that businesses should be outcome focussed , rather than focusing on the status of a document .
