Earlier this year , the government dedicated $ 2 billion to the Water Infrastructure Loan Facility and in 2016 , set aside $ 500mn to build and augment existing water infrastructure via the National Water Infrastructure Development Fund . The government also unveiled plans for the 270km Broken Hill Water Security Project , set to be complete by the end of 2018 .
